rebuilding a cj7 that took a hit on the front tire by another vehicle.the other vehicle hit the drivers side front tire squarely from the side, and pushed it towards the passenger side. the spring hangers were bent, and the shocks were bent slightly. i replaced the spring hangers and the shocks but the springs dont line up with the frame now as they are off by about 1 1/2 inch. the springs dont appear bent or twisted, so i think the u bolts have moved. how do i line up the front axle side to side, are there measurements i can go off of such as wms to frame etc... any help will be appreciated

The leaf spring center pins may have sheared off. they locate the axle side to side. you may need to replace them and the u-bolts. You will have to loosen the u-bolts and take them off to see if the pins are still in place and in one piece.
P.s. I am not Dr. Vern (but I am happy to take credit for his writing!)
