there are several articles around the web... probably in one of the truck magazines or even here on using a 4.0 head on the 4.2 with some creative mods... and swap on the 4.0 fuel injection system
when i looked over at one of the online suppliers..

I have had lots of luck with a Howell Engine Developments throttle body fuel injection system on a even fire Buick V-6 in my '49 CJ3-A:

I know they make a kit for the 258 and I would not hesitate to use them again. Its probably one of the best modifications I made to (In fact I have a FI system from them for Piggy the Pig Truck).
P.s. I am not Dr. Vern (but I am happy to take credit for his writing!)

Back in '98, I put the MOPAR Performance multiport FI kit in my '89 YJ. Problem was, I got rid of the original parts before I found out I have a lean detonation problem. I used a Borla header with the system, causing the problem. I called HESCO about it, and they said "Didn't you get our 3-page tech sheet?" No, I didn't. Someone just happened to leave that out of my kit. I had them send it to me. There's a line in it that states: "If you use headers with this kit, you're going to have a detonation problem." Every solution to the problem involves spending over $300. Thanks a lot, HESCO.

slimchance... does the header have an oxygen sensor bung?? at the collector???
is your oxygen sensor not reading properly do to the distance from the engine..
if so.. you might want to swap in a 3 wire heated or the more complicated 4 wire heated oxygen sensor... 3 wires MUCH easier.. this gives you a better oxygen sensor reading as the sensor does not depend on exhaust flow for heat to create the temp for operation...
if the increase in airflow from the headers has caused the issue..
you might be able to swap the injectors for increased fuel flow to correct it..
lastly... and i am going to have to get the instructions..
did this header install involve disconnecting the EGR system.. the EGR flow reduces oxygen content in the intake charge.. so less fuel is needed to reach proper air fuel ratio.. actually Oxygen/fuel ratio.. that will cause LEAN knock issues on many motors... as the acceleration the computer drops into OPEN loop and reverts to preprogrammed fuel control.. expecting the system to work as designed.. without the EGR flow.. it will not put out enough fuel...
these are GUESSES from a guy who fixes stock fuel injection systems daily..
