2009 sahara unlimited. 75,000 miles. on the way home, and making a right turn into my subdivision, i hear a grinding noise that reminds me of 'the front pads are gone'. i pull the front wheels off today and the pads still have considerable life left. the discs look great. but i notice that the wheel studs are not centered on the hub. drivers side shoved to the right. passenger side slightly off center. any suggestions? any clues?

are you saying that the studs sticking through the hub flange are at an angle... one side all layed over in one direction in a circle... like the lug nuts were not tight enough..

and the other side are all bent to one side...

i would say...  CHANGE THE STUDS at minimum.. and have somebody spin the wheels and tires up on a wheel balancer.. to verify they are HUB CENTRIC..

has anybody else driven your JEEP...    and could have taken it flying and landed it hard..

you will want to slowly rotate the hubs and with a micrometer measure the distance from the caliper bracket to the hub face in 5 places..  if its warped.. replace them.. change your ignition key.. so pilots won't be thinking about going flying again..

the front hub and bearing assemblies are available now..

please be careful..  they have antilock wiring on the back... i don't have a 2009 manual handy.. some of them might need to have the antilock speed sensor removed from the back of the hub assembly before you try to install it..  i am not sure of this.. others may know.. i just recall hearing about needing to remove some components on some applications..

got pictures...  several views to see them bent an an angle..  high res..  post them on photobucket.. its free.. post the image link here..

please check the rear wheels also..

loose lug nuts could also have caused this problem...

or setting it down with loose lug nuts. then the final tightening..

the studs ain't bent, off-center of the designed hole of the hub. for an idea, take a 1" dowel, stick it in a 2" hole, slide to the right. and i'm very anal about my wheel and tires. rotate every other oil change. 95ftlbs. and our 21 year old son ani't allowed to drive a bucket of crap. so no flying wallendas.

working 13 to 15 hour days, 6 days a week right now. except today, the 4th. try to get some pics out. local shop so busy can't call me back. everyone in town wants this cat to work on anything and everything. he did my daughter right on her rig, a friggin' rodeo.

before buying any assemblies, like to know what the hell happened to ensure it won't be doing it again, and again,and........

just call me dum-dum baby. i got stuck using the term hub, when i should have said the rotor/rotors had slid around. the studs are off-center of the hat section of the rotors. realized my mistake in terminology while looking at brake upgrades in the quadratec catalog. unfortunately, when i get on a certain tangent in my head its hard to redirect! but now that i'm thinking somewhat straighter, they may not have tightened the lug nuts in february when the new tires were installed.
