I've kind of been thinking about doing this when I get home. Ive been looking at salvage tittle TJ's on https://erepairables.com/ and thinking about trying to pick up a salvaged Rubicon. I've got a 76' CJ5 now and think it would be pretty cool to lengthen the tub and set it all onto the complete TJ chassis. Has anybody ever heard of or seen this done? I could use some help on this, I've never done anything this extensive before myself and think it would be pretty cool to have an old CJ with a more modern jeep drive train and suspension. I've had it sitting for over 5 years now so I think no matter which rout I decide to go wither it be fixing it up and keeping it on the original chassis or doing the swap that I mentioned. Its gonna be allot of work But either way I would like to end up extending the wheelbase and running no larger than a 35" tire. I've been In Afghanistan for 5 months now so I've had allot of time to let Imagination run wild about what I'm gonna do with it when I get home, but I know for sure I want to get it back up and running by the end of next year. Any Ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help.

I get that you've already got the CJ-5, but using a CJ-7 tub would make it a lot easier since it's much closer in length. Plus, if you stretch it at the door opening you'll essentially be making a CJ-7 out of your CJ-5...so again, why not start with a CJ-7 tub.
In reality it's probably gonna be easier to just keep the TJ tub and maybe convert the dash to a flat CJ-style dash and mod the front clip to fit the TJ cowl. Same look you're going for but probably less work. The wiring harness, etc would all stay the same too.
