Hay y'all. I've been saving up forever it seems like & I now have the funds to order a 8.8 from east cost gear supply & what I wanted to do was order it with the optional 4:10s to give my tj a little help pushing my 32s. My factory gears are 373s I think & if I get the 410 rear is this going to be a nucular disaster trying to get by till I can afford to regear the front to match? Can I install the axle & just use the 4x4 in 'OH SH*T' moments till I get the front axle gears to match?

I really don't think you're spending very wisely going from 3.73s to 4.10s either. Unless that's what the 8.8 is going to come loaded with. That's not a huge difference in gearing and honestly if you're only going to be running 32s you're better off leaving the stock 3.73s in place and putting the regear money into other areas.

If the 8.8 comes loaded with the 4.10s and (I assume) you're dealing with a TJ, start looking for a used front axle from a four-cylinder TJ or even XJ. Almost all of these came with 4.10 gears from the factory. The '95-up XJ front axles will have larger 297X-sized U-joints (same as your current shafts) and all but the '01 XJ front axles should be high-pinion.

You can install the four-cylinder axle and sell your old one for a nearly-free gear swap.

Thanks, I've been asking a couple shops & they were more then happy to get my money but they came close to saying the same thing. Well I plan on putting the tj on 35s with a 6" lift in 2 years when I pay it off so i m thinking its a better idea to keep that d35 for now. I realy wanted more traction because my open difs keep getting me stuck in the mud.that's why I wanted the 8.8 it had options for lockers heavy duty shafts & so on. I'm also tryin to keep it budget minded too
