I have a 2011 JK 2door that has a shudder in reverse .it now shudders when on a steep hill going forward.. The dealer says its the torque convertor and probably the trans is on its way out. it has only 17000 kms on it ( I also have extended warranty ) they told me it is my fault as I have modified the engine by adding a cold air intake. they said they will do the work as long as I put the stock intake back on ...
Is there any truth to what they say or are they just a bunch of no minds ????
Lar..

they really have the ability to void your warrantee with changes in components from factory configuration..
do you still have your original parts to reinstall...
does your jeep have a transmission fluid dip stick so you can check the fluid level and color.. low fluid levels will really effect the ability of the transmission to maintain enough hydraulic pressure to clamp the clutches to prevent chatter...
please... with the engine off... turn the ignition key ON, off, ON, off, ON, off, ON.. 3 turns on within 10 seconds without starting the engine and the final position is ON.. the odometer will change from mileage to trouble codes...
please post your trouble codes.. transmission specific codes are in the P0700 to P0799 and more above P1000..

Put old air intake back on (tears to my eyes) but It is cheaper than me paying for a new trans and torque convertor
NO codes when I tried the key on off thing

transmission level is critical to maintain at the full mark when the jeep is level...
if getting at HIGH angles.. you might want to think about increasing the transmission fluid level half a quart... but not much more... there is NOT a LOT of room left in the transmission case for additional oil.. but when you go up steep angles with the fluid just a little low... you can uncover part of the filter... air does not work well to operate the transmission.. .
you can always put you cold air intake back on after the transmission is fixed..
thats why you don't throw away or sell parts that you remove from your car..
i knew a guy who was leased a new car through his work... he did all kinds of mods to it.. wheels.. lowered... ground effects.. decal wrap... exhaust... he then lost his job and had to turn the car in.. had to pay THOUSANDS to the leasing company to pay off the mods that he did.. he sold off the parts he removed... OOPs.. quick CL cash..
