ford 351 in a 1983 Cherokee (big one)

looking for any advise on swaping a ford 351 v-8 into my 83 Cherokee (grand wagoneer size) I had a 258 (4.2) in her but took it out and have everything to build a 4.6 stroker. Then I thought about maybe needing to tow our 21 foot ski boat and having thoughts about a v-8. Looking at a 351 due to the fact that with the right bell housing, I can keep my T176/NP208 combo and just do some engine bay and exhaust work.

Also looking for a 351 and bell housing to swap in.

any toughts welcome, thanks  

I would personally love to have a modern 351W in any Jeep. Have a look at Advance Adapters or Novak Conversions they should have you covered for the hard parts like motor mounts and adapters. The junkyard or craigslist is probably gonna be the best source for a motor, just be sure you know what you are getting especially from craigslist where there will be no guarantee that the engine is not junk. Are you planning on running a carb or FI? either way you will have lots of options.

I just put a 302ho in 84 cj7 w/yj frame, used stock parts, eng. frame mounts from 78 f250, t18/205. easy swap just right parts. t176 has same bolt pattern has ford t18/np435. need to be sure of flywheel imbalance and t/count. if fI good luck nobody makes wire/harness for speeddencey need to go to masair cost $1000.00 I,m pulling the fi and going to a holley truck avg. and HEI dis. Did same swap on a 83 cj7 using ford 302, t18/300 with A/A parts
