Jp mag indicates the rear dana 35 axle is a "turd." How bad is it really? I have the opportunity to purchase a 2007 with 12652 miles for $17000. I am wondering if that is why the guy is selling it. I will use as a daily driver 80% of the time and mud and snow the other 20%. Regular maintenance etc and no problems or is doom and look for something else?

I doubt the axle is the reason he's selling the Jeep. Also, only the early '07 JK two-doors go the Dana 35 rear before the Dana 44 became standard.
The Dana 35 rear is adequate for stock use with small tires, but if you're planning on adding a locker, big tires, and/or wheeling hard, you should really upgrade to a junkyard take-out Dana 44 rear. Still, that's sounds like a decent price on a low-mileage JK as long as the body, interior, and engine are in good shape.
