I have a 2005 Jeep grand Cherokee LTD with the 5.7 HEMI. The power steering hose between the pump and the fan has started to leak. Has anyone attempted to replace this on their own and if so, how difficult was the repair and how long did it take?

Is it one of the hoses that is leaking or is it a fitting? If it's a fitting can you simply tighten it and/or add sealing tape to the threads if appropriate for the fitting type?

Unfortunately it is the actual hose, not a fitting. Any comment on whether it is a relatively simple job that I can do? Thanks.

ok, So mine did the exact same thing. I figured it was an easy fix, so i went to the local jeep dealer and ordered the hose. The hose was a little more then 60 buck. no big deal. went home and put the hose on, and it pissed fluid out of the same hose again. With both hoses fluid was leaking out of the threads near at the fan. So i talked to a few buddies( I no longer work at a dealer) and all of them said once it starts leaking out of that hose you have to replace the cooling fan. Something about too much pressure build up in the fan. hydraulic fan cost 800 bucks from the dealer, and was a mother to replace. after i replaced it the hose still leaked from the same spot. i started to do my own research and seen that the flare on the hose is way under size for the hole it goes into.I flared the hose out a little more and put a better gasket on and no leaks.. Now im workign on trying to get the pump to stop making noise. which i hear is impossible also. Hope that helps
