Does it run when being jump started by another car/jeep? Wonder if it may be a short?

Sounds like you could have a bad ground somewhere. Or the battery is shot.

Jump start it, and while it is running disconect the battery. If the Jeep continues to run while the bat is unhooked then your alternator is running "good" and hooked up right, this also tells you that your battery may be bad. If it DIES then it is something to do with the alt. or its connections. Try that and see what happens.

Sounds like the battery may not be charging, might check & clean the cable connections.
