I have a 2000 TJ w/ the 2.5L and 5 speed manual - no AC.
The issue that I have is that the jeep is very difficult to shift. The clutch does not slip and when I do force it into gear, it does not grind at all.
Now, if I shut off the engine, I can easily row through all of the gears w/ no issue. Fluid level is good and I can't see any leaks.
Can this be the master cylinder or would this be an issue w/ the synchros? Thanks in advance.

it might be in the clutch master and slave cylinders. is the fluid level right in the master? also, the fluid might be contaminated. from a personal experience, i had a seal leak in the slave cylinder, the fluid level was correct and uncontaminated, the fluid was just bypassing the seal. the cost of the new master/slave cylinder was about $170 four years ago and took about 20 minutes to do
I work to support my Jeep

Its probably your syncros. I had a 90 f150 that would row through the gears when it was off but i had to fight it to get it in gear while runnin. However i would def check the fluid before i pulled the tranny and had it rebuilt.
BTW If it is an Ax5 mabey you'll want to upgrade to the Ax15. somebody around here is doin this swap as we speak and its suppose to be in the Mag in a future issue.
Good Luck
I'm all JACKED UP on Mtn. DEW!!!
