Hi,
I have a 1989 Jeep Wrangler Automatic. It's suppost to have the 2.5L, but I have a 4.2L Inline 6. So I took the serial number off the engine to find out what year it is, but can't find anywhere online to get the info. Hopefully you can help. I even went into a Jeep Dealership Service Center, and they don't records that far back, go figure.
I'm doing this so that I can buy the right carb. for my jeep.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Cliff

The exact year may not be all that important if you go this route: WEBER CARB
Fits '72-'90 4.2L. And '90 is the last year of the 4.2L.

Thank you so much for your help. It does state this, what would I have to do for the emissions systems?
*Note: this carburetor will not work with the stock Jeep emissions systems. *Also, this carburetor is for racing and off-road use only.

Ahhh, you're in one of "Those" states...Like me.
Personally, if you like and plan to keep the Jeep, I would go for the Howell fuel injection. It's expensive but worth every penny. It's smog legal and provides way better performance than any carb you could put on it.
CLICK HERE for Howell EFI info.
The stock 4.2L carbs are notorious for problems so a simple rebuild isn't enough. Generally they need new throttle shaft bushings installed.
But, if you just want a stock carb rebuilt right, TRY HERE
