Hello everyone!Im getting ready to buy a jeep in Jan. Want to get a cj7. I have a couple questions? First I'd like to put a small block chevy in it, should i go feul injected or will a carborater do just fine?I've been looking at lifts, does anyone make a long arm lift for a cj7 or would i have to build it myself? probly go with 38" iroks or bogger for tires.will the stock running gear hold up?Any help would be great. Im giving myselff a year to build this toy so it can be done right.

Fuel injection is always a better way to go, weather you get a carberated engin first and add an aftermarket system later. As far as the axels, Dana 44's will hold up to 37" tires as long as you use a light foot. You can spend alot of money installing high strength axel shaft's but I personally dont think that this is the way to go. By the time that you build a 44, you could have bought Ford 9" or Dana 60 aftermarket axels for a few bucks more and they will be stronger. Remember if you build axels yourself, that they will need to be regeared, lockers added, all new bearings and seals, ball joints for the front and breakes. The after market ones can be bought with all of this done, like I said for a few bucks more. The Ford axels are good to 37 or 38 inch tires the Dana 60's are good to 42 or 44 inchers.

well most of your ? are really easy and anyone that is going to build a jeep should already know. I'm not makeing fun of you but really you should read up and do some checking in the mags and online. For example, there is no such thing as a long arm for a cj as it not even the same suspenion! LOL ,the cjs have leaf springs not coils and control arms.

I beg to differ with you. There are after markes coil over front and 1/4 eliptic rear long arm suspension kits for CJ's.
