My next Jeep purchase will be a...
- JK, but I wanna see it up close first.
- TJ, they're getting inexpensive.
- YJ, they're already inexpensive.
- XJ, ZJ, or WJ, I need something comfortable
- CJ, FSJ, Jeepster, etc., I want something different than everyone else!

Tell us what you're ready to move into if anything at all. Don't see the model type you want listed or don't plan on buying another Jeep? Hit reply and write it in down here!

1957 cab-forward FC170 (6-cyl.) would be a sweet trail rig.

I don't plan on replacing my crawler for a long time. I just hope to keep it wheelable and upgrade a few things along the way.
I'm glad I got it built before the kids started getting older. Between kids, the home, etc., there isn't as much play money as there used to be. I figure I'll be glad just to be able to keep it through their college years.

If I could scrounge up the cash an MB that is completly restored. I might also add in a Browing .50.

I might consider a JK when the deisel makes it there, but I wish they would have stuck with a "jeep shaped" grill instead of claiming it looks like a jeep because it has 7 slots. as it is I doubt I'll be buying another jeep in at least 5 years unless its to trade down to a 4 cyl TJ for insurance reasons

I've seen a few waggys and J-trucks hiding in the local fields lately. Something like that would compliment an M715 nicely.
A flatfender would be cool to run around in, but the only one of those I've seen lately was made almost entirely of bondo.

I would prefer another old SJ (I've owned two), preferably a 74-78 with the 401. Unfortunately, the significant other wants a new GC... Something to do with starting everytime you turn the key, kinda takes all the fun out it.

my next jeep purchase will probably be a tankful of gas.
but a cheap YJ without too much rust would be cool.

Greetings,
If I can actually get time away from work, wife and the two youngsters, I'd like to get started on the free C-101 sitting in my garage right now!
I have a free Buick 231 out of a GN (T-Type Limited) sitting on the floor and my buddy's Dana 44 and GM 12 bolt complete with 15" steel rims and four practically new 35" MTs out from under his 76 Chevy K-5 that now sports 40s. The new drive train will run me 500 bones and my only regret is with the 12 bolt, but the tires alone are worth the price of admission.
If the tub is sound, the plan is to split, box/beaf where needed and lengthen it to better fit the new drive train. I thought the lengthened flattie in the "1400-Day Flattie" was done right. I'd like to be able to put as much effort into my 101 in addition to widening it. 11-13" of additional fender just wouldn't look right...
Cheers!

That's going to be a great ride when it's done! Too bad that car had to lose it's engine! Thoughs cars we're rare.

Thanks for the feedback. I think it will be a unique ride and in a way, a tribute to the Dauntless 225 in that the 231 is basically its great grandson. Part of what's driving me to do such heavy modes is I want it to be unique, but not look like an oddball and I want to keep is street legal so I can make it a daily driver to and from work. At least for a little while.
Before deciding on pulling the engine I had wanted to restore it (it was a limited edition, even), but the original owner had installed a set of traction bars and a bull dog chip without a roll cage before using it for running dope (my dad picked it up at the sheriffs’ auction for ~2000 bucks.) The upgrades had rippled the body which led to the passenger door frame rusting from inside out by the time I got it.
Had I known more about what I am about to do, I should have pulled some more parts off the carcass before donating it to the fire dept to be used for Jaw-of-life training...
The wife is taking the kids to see grandma tomorrow, so I'm going to try to actually get started. I'll have to send J.Cappa some pics for JPs latest call for projects. I have lots of tear down ahead of me, plus my garage has no shelves, so room has been scares.
Anyway, I hope to have lots more pics uploaded soon. I plan on well documenting this project as I have managed to get myself called out to show off my welding/fab skills (from another forum.) Guess I irritated someone when I called their welds boogery. ;-) I'm sorry, but if it looks like its gonna crack under load I'm gonna say something...
