Jeeps aren't a very practical vehicle. The gas mileage sux, you can't haul anything, they're noisy, they handle like crap and on a bumpy road they will beat you to death. So people ask us "How do you stand it?" All we can say is "Its a Jeep thing , you wouldn't understand."
I think the reason we do it is really kind of simple. Almost every Jeeper that I have ever met is the kind of person that would give the shirt off of his or her back to help another person. We wave at each other and at our neighbors. We are humble and respectful and at the same time a little crazy.
We understand the fact that life isn't easy. We've accepted that and decided that we don't need all the comforts and we don't want to be pampered. We want to be free and we want to be a part of something. With jeeps we get that and every true Jeeper knows that you either love it or you hate it.
Peace.........JB

I would suggest that it is the same with Corvettes, Harleys, and Jeeps. All are American Icons, known and revered for their heritage as being specifically unique and special among their direct peers, even with the various shortcomings. Corvette and Harley folks all wave too, and only they all seem to know what's wrong when they're broken. I have had Vette's and bikes, and am now on my first real Jeep (my wife drove an 88 Cherokee for about 2 years a long time ago), and I wish I could explain how happy I am with it - I am also glad I waited until now to get it, I am finally mature enough now to appreciate its heritage, abilities, and shortcomings too. I say mature, but by gosh, this Jeep has a way of making me drive through every bit of mud within sight! It's like it has a mind of its own!
