89' YJ, 33x12.5x15 Goodyear MTRs

What wheel width should I run, 8" or 10"?

I had them on 8" wide before on a Toyota and going to install them on my YJ now.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Thanks, Jim

it depends on what you plan on using the vehicle for...if you plan on the rocks i would go for the 8' rims so you dont scratch your rims all up while off road...if you plan on going with a wider tire later or just use it in the mud and like to air down then i would go with the wider 10" rim.

I'd go with the 10's, if you can still tuck them under the Jeep. It'll give u a wider footprint even at highway pressure, & maybe a little wider stance depending on the backspacing. Footprint = Traction

The 10's may add alittle more stress on the stearing components, but only running 33's I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for your help. Most of the wheeling out here is sand and some rocks. I live in the Palm Springs area and yes, there is a possablity of going to a wider tire later on this rig. Thanks again for you help.

Yes I will be able to get the 33's under the Jeep. It sits on 2 1/2" Rancho lift & another 1 1/4 from the shackles.

Thanks Jim

I have a large favor of 8 inchers compared to 10s....  as far as looking at them, 8's just look better, especially on YJs cause it seems the tires pop out even when they are riding stock.  And as far as the foot print goes,.. I ran 33 inch MTRs on 8's...and my buddy ran the same tire on 10s... my tire seemed to have a "baloon" effect, which made them look larger than my buddy's..and after an argument over foot prints we took em to the dunes and measured. guess what, my MTRs on 8's had just as big of foot print as my buddy's 10s.  Its all about the "balloon" effect, looks more badass, and seems to be just as good if not better than the gawdy looking 10s.  But thats just me old opinion.
