I Thinking of puting a 4in lift on my 96 XJ . Should I go with a kit with a tracker bracket or with a adj-tracker bar ?? The xj is more a daily driver then a hard core offroaded it sees fire roads and sand the most  offroad

What kit is best ??

Don't buy anything made by Terasux (Teraflex). Get an adjustable trackbar.

Do yourself a favor, go to a bunch of the FORUMS, ask the same question.

My personal opinion, which is shared by many I think, stay with a major Manufacturer, Rubicon, Skyjacker etc.

You get what you pay for, if you go with AAL instead of Spring Pacs, your Springs will eventually sag. If you relocate the Trac Bar vs buying a Adj. TracBar, that will be your F.E.'s weakest link, may even cause DEATH WOBBLE in a 4" lift.

Myself, I went with the RE 6130 with Old Man EMU's, ride nice, great shocks.

You hear mixed reviews about Rusty's. It's been my experiance hearing from others that Rusty's kits are alright but the fab work on the CA's is kinda of rough, I also here his springs are somewhat stiff, and his shocks are average as far as compression and rebound.

If you look @ Rusty's 4.5" Kit with Springs, it's ~ $670.00 LCA's and his low end Shocks. His CA's use Rubber Bushings in both ends (Poor to Average flex)

Look @ the RE6130 4.5" - Uppers and Lowers with Rubber on the Frame end and Johnny Joints on the Axle end. You get 3.5" Leafs with 1.5" Shackles. Better ride vs 4.5" Leafs, and the Shackles give better off road flex. Price $870.00 w/o shocks. I got Old Man EMU's @ $60.00 apiece, but yoyu could pick up DT's for ~$135.00 a set.

Tough Country I have no opinion on and have not heard anything bad or good and did not even consider them for a Cherokee.

I had an 89 XJ with a Rusty's 4.5 kit, and was pretty happy with it.  It could have rode a little nicer, but almost any lift including new springs or AALs, is gonna ride a little more harsh than stock.  I went with new rear springs and would definitely recommend you to do the same.  Re-arching a spring pack by adding a leaf is a very inexpensive way to achieve ground clearance, but it's also the quickest way to make a comfortable truck or suv ride like an empty log wagon.  On my XJ I went with an adjustable track bar from Rusty's, which I believe came with a new, and much beefier mounting bracket.  The main problem with a track bar drop bracket is that on a 4" and up lift, the bracket is'nt gonna drop the track bar down enough to center the body back over the axle, which is the #1 reason to drop the track bar in the first place.  As far as the shocks, and despite what some people have heard, my personal opinion (having owned a set) is that they are just fine for most trail use.  The reb. and dam. on them is more than sufficient unless you plan on hammering across the desert with the speedo pegged.  And to adress the rubber bushings in the Rusty's lower CAs, they to, will provide more than enough flex for your off-roading excursions.

Hope this info steers you in the right direction.

If you want to see the difference between good CA's and not so good (politically correct) CA's< go to the above site and see CA's in action.

This is why you invest the money!
