well i got my jeep tj bone stock and did some rims and tires and wat not but then i wanted some engine mods so i got a good looking gsp throtle body spacer taht has the fin spiraling thing in the middle and got a fipk K&N cold air intake. my problem is i in the morning when the engine isnt warm a single bit i will crank in and for the first 5 seconds it has a violent engine shake. i have tried to disconnect the battery cables with the engine not warm a single bit and have also tried disconnecting it while its all the way warm. my ? is wats my problem, do i need to disconnct the battery cables over night so the computer can clear better or do i need to get some diagnostics done with a code reader or watever, or is there sumthin else.

you've got 1 or more cylinder that aren't fireing. it could be plugs, but because it goes away when warm, I'm thinking its one of your individule coils

What is the easiest way to find out which plug it is. You have to remember this is a 2000 year modle without the coil and wires and stuff. I really dont think it could be a plug since they probally have under 3000 miles on them.

I though 2000 went ditributorless. does the check engine iluminate? other than that, I'd check resistances. I doubt plugs went bad in 3000 miles, unless thay were bad when installed

I'd start by checking the coils/wires. while cold check the resistances on the high and low voltage sides, you should also be sure to check for corosion on the conectors. you'll probably need some sort of diagnostic tool to see where the misfire is. its also possible you may have a dirty injector.

what do you think fires the spark plugs? Its not my hopes and dreams, they've been used up. there is a "bar" on the pass side of the engine that houses the coils. I'm pretty sure that a coil near plug and not a coil on plug, so you either have 3 (1 coil per 2 plugs) or more likly 6 (1 coil per plug) coils that are either on, or near (and conected with short plug wires) your spark plugs. your spark plugs are on the passenger side of the head. follow your wires from the plug untill you find a boxy thing, that is one of your coils. If its a coil pack (all the coils in 1 box) you'd have to replace it (assuming thats the problem) otherwise you might get by with only replacing a single coil. next time invest in a service manual before an air filter.

Well speaking of an investment i did purchase a 100 dollar service manual. It has everything imaginal. I think i might look into it or if worse comes to worst ill tell my dad about it and see what he cam do. The reason i didnt tell him is b/c im tired of his bitchen. But then again ill just be like its a jeep thing. PoPs

Vacuum leak at the spacer, as it heats, it seals.

i have gaskets on it so i dont see how it could be leaking, if it were leaking how could i tell for sure and once i have told for sure how could i get it to stop. i remeber not tightening the bolts tight becuase it said torque them to so much so my dad toqued them to that much maybe the bolts arent tight enough.
ive also been told that the computer needs to be reprogramed to get more fuel so the air to fuel ratio is to norm. is that true

you dont have to disconnect the battery when doing those kinda mods.it will automaticly do it over 50 miles.if it was leaking there, you would have a high idel,up around 3k or more, but you can spray brake cleaner around there and some other spots to see if you have a vaccume leak.to me it sounds like you have a cheap fram oil filter problem,on start-ups,it dont get oil into the motor for around 5 seconds.whens the last time you changed it and what oil and filter you use?
