coil spacer/body lift opinions

My rig - 2000 wrangler tj sport
      - 4.0 inline 6, 5 speed manual
      - lots of engine/exhaust flow mods
      - suspension-wise, stock
      - rubber, bfgoodrich all-terain, came on her

Picked up some 33X12.5's real cheap from a buddy running a suspension-wise stock 74 CJ5. They fit under his, but under mine I KNOW that if I hit anything offroad I'll rub like crazy.

My question: I'm looking at a Rocky Road kit with 2 inch coil spacers and a 1 inch body lift, only so I can fit the 33's under when I want to go muddin and such. Are coil spacers safe? I know overall they're not as good as a full suspension lift, but not all of us jeepers can afford that! I'll definitely be upgrading to a nice suspension lift as soon as I get the money for it, though. Also, with 2 inch coil spacers and a 1 inch body, am I going to have to mess with drivetrain, slip yoke eliminators, drop the transfer case, brake lines, things like that?

I'd appreciate any input on my situation. Thanks guys!

coils spacers are fine.

you might want to consider an engine lift with the body lift, and leave the stock belly pan. this tips the drivetrain down as if you had a transfere case drop and makes it so you don't have to mess with cutting the fans shroud, and yur shift linkages should be OK.

it also gives a nice road to improve with. you can do SYE and get a flat skidplate for a big increase in breakover and grondclearace when you've got the funds.

I would just look into a 3" lift. Rusty's has a good one for cheap and also tuff country are a good price. It would look better and would be more bang for your buck. The lift springs would perform better off road. You would not need a SYE kit with a three inch lift. After you could upgrade to swaybar discos and a ajustable track bar.

96 grand,3.5 Tuff Country,3/4 spacers, rusty's trackbar and mount, dual stabilizers,JCR rock sliders, Dynomax catback etc etc.

yeah don't get me wrong, i'd love to pick up a 3 inch suspension right now, but i'm on the verge of a move to missouri in 10 days, and need to save all the money i can. and a 178 dollar kit with 2 inch coil spacers and 1 inch body from rocky road is sounding realllll nice to throw on some weekend to fit my rubber.

thanks for the advice groo7. i'll definitely look into some new engine mounting hardware along with my body lift, to keep everything semi-aligned.

I installed 2" Skyjacker coil spacers along with the shock upgrades. The whole kit was very affordable and easily installed. This is in addition to the 2" body lift my jeep came with. The ride is rougher but I have plenty of clearance for my 33's. Watch for vibration in the drivetrain.
