So i've got a buddy who's got a CJ5 he's selling, and I managed to poach a set of four old, worn out wheels with 33X12.5 tires attatched to them for $75. jealous? I plan on just using them for mudding in Southern Missouri when I go. My question: I just picked up my wrangler last winter, so there's nothing suspension-wise done to it - just re-done ignition, plugs wires, blah blah blah to make it run like I want. I'm looking at a set of wheel adapters from Fred Goeske in LA to make them fit. Will my wheel adapters give me backspacing enough to fit that kind of rubber? I know I know, everyone's going to get me back and say it's not possible, but what if I just keep it on the road, and then wait for a lift to take it offroad? Mainly I wanna know about the backspacing. Thanks guys.

I've heard they'll fit, but watch out for expansion joints

the little bumps on the highway were the slabs of concrete come together. the implication is it won't take much of a bump to have your tires rub. I'd wait on using 'em until they actualy fit. you can probably get wheels that will fit for not much more than adapters

oh okay haha. yeah they actually fit okay under my buddy's stock CJ5, but he's got the dana stuff under there, so probably a little more clearance than me. i'll just see how it turns out. i'm looking at 2 inch coil spacers + 1 inch body just for a budget lift before i can afford a nice suspension lift. thanks for your time and input -
