I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A COMPLETE TEAR DOWN OF A REAR END.  PUTTING KNEW GEARS IN AND HOW TO SET A RING AND PINION GEAR.  WHAT TOOLS A GUY WOULD HAVE TO BUY.  SUCH AS DOING  A DANA 35C.  PLUS A 30 DANA AND A DANA 60.  HOW TO DO IT IN DETAIL NOT JUST TELL US TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
I REALLY ENJOY YOUR MAGAZINE.
IF YOUR NOT LIVING ON THE EDGE YOUR TAKING UP TO MUCH ROOM.

This will probably NEVER happen, but as long as you're asking, I'll add my 4 cents worth:

First, some good - Of all the 4X-ing mags out there, I enjoy your writing style MORE than all the others. I don't know, maybe because your irreverence is taken lightly by me. I'm not offended, nor am I a cry-baby P.C-nic that thinks we should "play nice all the time" sometimes being a bit of an ass can be entertaining for others to watch, as long as no real harm is done and we don't turn anything into a flame-fest like many of the 4X-ing boards out there are now. Peterson's 4WOR has some good tech and interesting content, but its not "fun" to read. And apart from a very small amount of their content, I really couldn't care less about the mag. JP, on the other hand, keeps me pretty interested though.

"JEEP CHICKS" STAYS! But with some changes - no bimbos in anal-floss, please. Cuties and their OWN Jeeps should be the rule, not some guy's girlfriend stripping in front of his Jeep. Sorry, I'm more of a prudish country boy, in that regard.

Now -my ideas for improvement:  ALLOW READERS to write, shoot, and submit their own articles!  "Jeep Junkie" magazine (probably defunct now) had a good portion of reader-submitted material, most of it informative and entertaining, some of it a total snore-fest. The article content ranged from:
1) Do It Yourself tech (some of which I wrote, shot, and submitted) covering how to rebuild, or modify something on a specific Jeep -cold air intakes, cheapo distributor rebuilds, upgrades, "facelift operations";
2) to Jeep events in places like Australia, Sweden, etc...places you boys probably can't afford to visit editorially;
3) and also, Project Vehicle builds ranging from guys that restored a cool old beater Jeep back to awesome condition using junkyard/new/home-built stuff, and even a purpose-built Prerunner J10 and a few race Jeeps in the JeepSpeed series.

I KNOW there are guys out here in reader-land that have access to a DSLR (or quality point-and-shoot), a computer, and a Jeep...and some of us actually have the skills to use all of those things productively! What about actually paying a certain dollar amount for an article, based on quality/quantity of acceptable material submitted/published. Article submission guidelines would first have to be published, example - "no lewdness, cursing, or poor grammar, spell check all submitted material and proofread it before submission -all typos are the fault of the author - include as much technical info as possible with all photos, which should be at least 3-5 megapixels and be clearly referenced for interpolatation into article's text...etc." Basically some of us could be sort of "freelance" photo journalists. You can't do it all yourselves, you know. Its not that hard to do, Sci-fi and fantasy fiction magazines have taken reader submitted material since they began almost a hundred years ago. Edgar Rice Burroughs "Inventer of "Tarzan") got his start by submitting material to All-Story Magazine in like 1910! A couple pennies a word is the industry standard for most reader-submitted material. Its something to consider, what with all the voices crying out here for "real world", "do it in my driveway builds". Well, put your tools, cameras, and keyboards where your mouths are, folks! And now, for JP magazine would be the perfect oppurtunity!

On a personal, technical, note - I have a J20 - These have a Dana 60 rear axle...yet, I don't recall ever reading a rebuild article in the history of JP magazine that ever featured HOW TO REBUILD A Jeep Dana 60! Maybe I missed it, but when WAS the last time you guys rebuilt a Dana 60 instead of buying one from DynaSpend or SuperBucks Axle Manufacturing? Even the El-Cheapos at CarCraft just buy a new $2,500 axle assembly from some specialty shop instead of rebuilding a Mopar Dana60! Why can everyone rebuild Dana 44s and put them under Jeeps but never a Dana 60?!

Awright, I'm off my soap-box. Have a nice day.
Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the comments and you have some interesting ideas. As for freelance, I suppose the problem is that it's been my experience that even professional freelancers who claim their work is completely turn-key are wrong. I'll typically spend more time fixing and tweaking an untrained freelancers story than it would take me to simply write the story myself. Yeah, bummer I know because it seems like such an easy task. It's not.

Your other comment was a little telling of this issue. Jeep Junkie, no longer in business? Perhaps the reader-submitted material (some of it a "snooze fest" or "not fun to read") was not of interest enough to maintain success? I don't know what happened to them, if anything, so it's only a guess. We try hard to make every issue of Jp Magazine interesting for everybody. It's a lot more difficult than you might think, especially when you consider the huge variety of Jeeps and owners out there.

As for a Jeep Dana 60, ehh, well, truthfully they are not all that common. I mean I absolutely love FSJs and do as much as I can with them, but in the grand scheme not many other people do. Of the four I have owned only one had a 60 in the back. And it was basically the same 60 that comes in nearly every '70-'80s 3/4-ton truck. Ultimately a service manual will be a better guide for a rebuild than Jp Magazine unless there is some cool trick or neat interesting upgrade we can do to it.

Ok.  Here goes nothing.  I love the magazine and look for it everytime I am near a book store.  I have not subscribed yet...sue me.  I never do think about sending the subscription card in.  I love the humor in the magazine.  The first copy I picked up and read made me say to myself "D@#$ these guys are ballsy!"  I like that.  I like the spice that the writting adds to the mag.  It's not a snooze fest by any means.  Keep it up.

I wouldn't mind seeing a how to on building your own axle trusses, or fixing or replacing your steering box on a cj.  Tests on small mig or tig welders for your shop if that's capable.  I know a lot of people out there are probably good fabricators, but some may not be.  Show some tech on building the part you may need.  Show some tests on c.b. radios for the people who want one but aren't sure what to purchase and or how to install it in a simple out of the way yet attainable spot.  Install on aftermarket seating for any Jeep ride, with four and five point harness.  Rear disc brake conversions on the older rides.

The box is wide open for ideas to be put in the magazine.  Maybe put the idea for your article up on the forum and ask for input to see if it is going to be a hit or not.  Even if it's not with everyone, it could still run with or without tweaking.

I love my jeep and the other 4x4 I own...a toyota truck...oops, I mentioned another brand.  Oh well.  I had it before the jeep, and now it's for sale.  LOL!!  Keep up the great work guys.  I will be sending in that subscription card soon.

'80 cj-7 Renegade with 4 inch spring under, 33" trxus tires, rock hard bumper with smittybilt 8000 in front, home brew bumper for now in the back, Connex 3300 hp c.b. radio, and some nice plans for the future.

Oh...I almost forgot totally.  Do a story on Superlift's park in Hot Springs Arkansas, Shiloh Ridge in Alto Texas, and a some other places near the Arklatex area.  Some of us southerners have not gotten around to getting there yet, but like to hear about them.
