I'm getting a 3.5" Rubicon Express lift for my 2000 Sahara but I don't know what tires to get. It says the lift can fit 33"s.
I want 33"x12.5" Baja Claws but I've heard they are short for a 33. Could a 35 possibly fit? Maybe with a 1" body lift?
Otherwise I'd go with a BFG Mud Terrain(33x12.5)
thanks

in the rubicon express catalog it has tire fitment guides, probly on their web site too, you should be fine with 33x12.5s tho, it would be close with a 1 inch body(for the 35s)
get the truxus m/ts thats what i got, quiet as hell and will do good in the mud, as good if not better then claws, hell of alot cheaper, and look better too

If you want a similiar tread design, with even better traction all around than the Claws...Go with the Geolander M/T+, by Yokohama. They offer better traction and are a true 33 inches.
They are way better in mud, but the best MT I have ever used in things like: Snow, Ice, Sand, and Especially Rocks.
Plus with the straight cut center grooves, you can run them at high speeds on loose trails and the center grooves provide amazing stability, and will keep you right on track.

I ran 33 12.5 Baja Claws for one week and sold them....they were crap. I guess it all depends on the terrain you run in. I do agree they looked cool, and they self clean realy well if you can get them out of the mud. I'm running Thornbirds, yes thornbirds, because they are perfect for my terrain i.e. frozen ruts and trenches. But for the best all around I agree that the Geolander is the better buy.
My opinion, and I'm sure it stinks.

I like the look og the thornbirds. But they come in wider sizes. I'd like to try them in 31/10.50 but I think they come in 11.50? (I only have 15x7 wheels)

I don't know why but it seems that the Thornbirds are the only tire you can get in ay size, tall or wide. I would only use them if you have to as the tread is not very deep. It is more of a road tire, the theory is good as far as the side lugs only getting dirty and used off-road. I think they're due for a redesign. I was just introduced to the Trxus M/Ts today and they "looked" realy good. It seems they are becoming the favorite up here over the bias ply Super Swamper. Winter can give you real bad cold/flat spots on the bias. I plan on getting some in a month or two since the lugs are siped. I'll let you know how they do.

I personaly wouldn't look at a bias ply tire for any street use. they go out of round, they don't grip the pavement as well, they don't ride as well, they don't wear as well. when I bought my corvair, it had classic reproduction radial on it. I went the cheapest tires I could find to replace them (about 100 for all 4). It was a night and day difference! stick with radials on the road!

I have a 1999 jeep sahara, with a 4 inch lift a cheap one that came with it. It was never offroaded or locked into 4x4 go figure! I bought new rims from a specialized dealer with 33x12.50 bfg all terrian, still handled bad and the tires were hitting on the left side, got rims that fit properly and still was pulling. So I spent 1300.00 on 8 control arms for front and rear that swivel on ball bearings and problem solved, I took it to Imperial sand dunes and dropped tire pressure to 12 in front and 10 in rear and rippped around the sand and almost got to the top of compition hill at buttercup but lost traction not power, so I'm ordering paddle tires for the rear. Maybe that helps someone.

I bought the Geolanders and had to replace them after 9k miles(side walls kept breaking down and the tread wore down faster than a tagger on a overpass). I put the Trexus radials on my Land Rover and wow are they quiet. They also grip well, plus they are cheap to replace if you destroy one.
