Hey all. I have a 1999 Cherokee Sport and am in need of new tires. This Jeep does see trail time, but not hardcore, like Moab or anything. I am thinking about BF Goodrich All Terrains in a 235/75/15 size (instead of the 225's I have now), to be mounted on my stock alloy rims (the 5-star rims). I've seen it done once but could never find out from the owner if they rubbed or not. I can't imagine they would.

Has anyone else done this?

Thanks for your time, in advance. Any help is appreciated.

PS. My Cherokee is an XJ, right? Thanks!

235's are not a problem at all, in fact you can go 245/70/r15

Hey thanks! I did put 235/75R15 BFGoodriches on, and man are they wonderful. Made a major improvement over the 225's, in handling, confort, and driveability.  I might consider that 245 option next time.

I had to go through several tire shops before I found one that would put 235 on the Cherokee. Seems they have aproblem with this thing called "liability". I told 'em the Jeep was made for them, but they said no, they would only put on what was on the door placard, which amazingly is 215's. Gimme a break!

Thanks again for your input! I appreciate it.

I've had 235's on my '99 Cherokee since it had 30k miles and it now has 120k. Mine also has 215's listed as the standard tire size and it came with 225's. The tire shops never gave me a hassle about the size I told them what I wanted and the put them on. The only hassle I had was with state inspection because they said with anti-lock I couldn't change tire size the only problem with their logic was my cherokee doesn't have the optional anti-lock.

Ya they'll fit but the front will rub without a lift. I just got a 3.5" lift anyways.
