As mentioned in the title, I am looking for a rig to four wheel in, nothing to fancy. A '97 XJ was recommended to me, so that's what I am looking for.

I am not very good at making my mind, so I thought I'd look for a well-rounded rig.

Yeah, a '97 and newer XJ is an awesome buy. Most can be had for less than $4,000 in awesome shape. Beat up and dirty ones can be found for less than $2,000.

The beat up and dirty girl is the one I am searching for. I cringe at the thought of beating up an XJ in good shape. Another thing, someone has mentioned going for a straight 6 XJ, now does that mean v6 or something else?

Wrangler, not bad. Just I really had my mind set on a '97 XJ with a 4.0L inline-six! Thanks for the offer though.

Alright, after a few days of intense searching I keep finding Grand Cherokees. Now how do Grand Cherokees differ from the plain Cherokee???

Not much, mostly body style, could be a little more dificult to trim the front fenders and get it to look right.
