So im lookin to build a RTI ramp, and mainly im wondering, what is the important part of it? is it the angle of the ramp or is it the height to lenght that is important? like does the Ramp sit at a 45 degree angle and thats all that matters and how tall and how long it is depend on the builder?? Also, how do you measure the rating on it? is it based on length of travel up the ramp divided by wheel base? Makin the ramp is not the hard part, its knowin how to correctly set it up thats getting me. Thanks for all input and help.

If I recall correctly, when the Four Wheeler guys first came up with the RTI idea, they made it at an angle of 20 degrees.  This was what-10 years ago?  Maybe 12?  I can't find the magazine(s) that described the ramp.  I know that after a few years of Top Truck Challenge, they increased the angle to 30 degrees because so many people started building rigs just to beat the ramp.  Just a few years ago, there was an article that re-hashed the basics, but again, I am unable to find the info.  Maybe if you go right to their site, you can get it.  Sorry I can't help more...

hey its a start. I posted this same thread on the Fourwheeler forum also. So we'll see what comes from that one. Already you have helped enough, i mean it gives me a start to go from since my current ramp...Dirt hill side at the parents house is going away soon and its not much of a test.

If only they had a better archive, Xtreme4x4 TV did an episode on building one.  And no, I'm not endorsing the show.

If your good at fabricating from pictures, this link my be very useful.  Looks like a good ramp.  http://community.webshots.com/album/128853401GYnvlr

Here is a link to a calc that might be somewhat useful. http://www.4lo.com/calc/rticalc.htm
