if ya can weld, do this...Crack are VERY bad to metal, so it will be some work, but if ya can do it, so worth it. Grind out the crack, make it a hole and then fill it in, make sure you get past the crack also. if it goes to the end of the Channel, grind it out also. After you have welded up that hole you just made, grind it flush to the frame on both sides and then find some 1/4 or 1/8 plate and weld it to both sides of the frame, makin it cover the crack by about 3" or so on either side of it. Check the other side and if its fine, grind the metal clean and put a plate on that side also. This will kill the crack and also will help add strenght to the effected area. Its a lot of work, but it will fix the problem. and no i havnt done this my self, but i am going to school for welding, so i know what im talking about.  If you have a stick welder, use some 6010 or 6011(ac current) rod to fill the hole first, and then go over it with some 7018 to make it look better. 6010 and 6011 is a fast fill rod and will fill the hole fast, and then by covering that with the 7018, your weld metal will be stronger then the frame metal. 6010 and 6011 have a 60,000PSI strengh rating, 7018 is a 70,000PSI rating in tensile strenght.

Now if ya cant weld, find a buddy that can weld and have them do it for you. or find a shop that will fix it their way for you...Good luck

I also see that you are located here in the good ol Wa like i am, where about are ya located at?
