well how far ya willin to drive?? and whats your vehical set up? cuz there are several spots around in this area. I live in Renton and i go 4x4in down in olympia at the capital forest. Thats like all loggin roads so not really any challenge. There is also Rieder pit off Hyw 2 near Monroe (which pretty much sucks...) and if ya wanna get away for the weekend you can find some trails in the Wenatchee National Forrest. I know that for Gifford National Forrest there are just roads to drive, no trails as of yet. Also another area to go to is up near Crystal mountain to the "Greenwater" area. Tahoya i have not been to or to Greenwater, other then for dirt bikes to Tahoya and snowmobiles for Greenwater, but i know there are trails up in Greenwater. Im not sure on the leval of the trails in Greenwater, but im sure its like all the other forrest areas in the cascades. they have differnt levels of terrain for every one to take on. I know on the top of Bluett pass you can also go and hit up some trails there also. If ya wanna find trails in the national forrest, either find some one with a map, or go down to a Ranger station and ask for the national forrest maps and have them go over them with you as to what you can and cant 4x4 on...Its always good to know before ya head out whats open and whats not...Hope that helps you some.

Hmmmmm, I could've used that information 33 years ago when I was stationed at Puget Sound Shipyard when I bought my first Jeep.  I guess I'm a little late.....

Its never too late. Do you still live in the Puget sound area?? Cuz i know of some 4x4 clubs around in this area. Im also thinkin of starting a 4x4 club my self, that only allow daily drivers as the 4x4 of choice. Or some thing like that...But yea its never too late to start 4x4in around the Puget sound area. I go a lotta time by my self and i just make sure i know what im getting into and have yet to get stuck on a trail. Ive been stuck, but that was on the beach screwin around tryin to crawl over a log 4" taller then my clearance... I run 31" BFG A/Ts and i have rarely had a problem in the muck and mud that i have encounterd in the spots that i have been. So it dont take much to have a good time. Just some paitence, a map, and at the very least a stock 4x4, and you can have a blast all day long up in the cascades. On one of the trails ive done, ive seen a stock explorer take them on with out issue.  One thing also about the cascades and the trails. If its rained withen the last few days the trail will be a bit harder then if it was dry. whats passable in a stock 4x4 when dry, might be a challenge for a Jeep with 33's and mud tires if its muddy at all.  So go prepared and know where you are goin to come out at, take a buddy or let others know where your going and have a map and some food and water and you will be set for a full day of fun with the family or friends.

No, I was only there from Memorial Day to the beginning of December of '73. Uncle Sam sent me there, then took me away.  Also, that Jeep was missing a front drive shaft.  I probably would have used it anyway, if I had known anyone there with a 4WD vehicle, but that was a time when 4WDs were kind of scarce.  I only recall finding, with difficulty, ONE shop that sold 4WD equipment.  At the time, I made only about $375 a month (the Navy didn't pay that well...) and everything was kinda expensive...

Well, you're young, but it sounds like you have been able to do more 'wheeling than I did at your age.  I'm kinda envious!

bout the most i do is some old loggin roads and deeply rutted roads that say "high clearance only" They are just enough to keep me kinda happy, but after gettin stuck on Memorial day weekend on the beach, im now lookin for some harder trails since i know how capible my Grand now is...

yea i feel your buddys pain when he gets yelled at...I get it two fold. From my mom and my grandmother, Lucky for me though my GF ia on my side and doesnt care about the dents. If i ever get around to it ill let ya know, pretty busy with school and workin full time. Im not sure which is a good club for a Daily Driver jeep, thus is why i havnt joined a club yet. Yea my grand is a mixture of stuff thats for sure. But it rounds out to about a 3" lift with 31's. Im hoping to hit up Bluett pass here some time soon withen the next few weeks, do some easy stuff, test out what the newest round of modifications will do for me. I got some new stuff im addin to my ZJ this coming weekend...track bar, front coils, brake lines, rear track bar drop...maybe some rattle can paint to cover my dents...
