I recently prepped a '79 CJ7 for an engine swap. I want to drop in a a new GM but im not sure what size engine will make for a fairly easy swap. Keep in mind I want the most powerful engine possible with as little cutting possible.

OK,
An AMC V-8 is a simple swap. However finding a real good one that doesn't need a rebuild may prove difficult. I personally am a big fan of GM crate engines. Check out these: http://www.turnkeyenginesupply.com/
Click on catalog and go nuts. Up to 510hp from an LS1.
