I want to upgrade my dana 30 front diff. to a 44 or 60 for strength and the upgrade to bigger brakes. What is the most cost efficient way to do this? I have looked at the major manufactures and the cost is around 4000 to 5500 dollars just for the set-up with an ARB. Are there any other options out there? Could I use a housing off another make and model and have the tubes cut to length? If so, what is the best out there to look for? The one think I know I have to factor in is the 600.00 for the TJ brackets.fficeffice" />>

Also, what other things will I have to change if I upgrade to the 44 or 60? Will my steering I have work? Will the drive shaft I have work? >

If anyone has done this upgrade, can you give me an idea what your total cost was and what setup you went with and any good things about it and any bad if any...>

Thanks for all your help

I know that jeeps are built and not bought. however spending $5k for a 44 is a hard pill to swallow. if you have $5k to spend, use that as a down payment for a new or used rubicon!!!! I have built my share of jeeps. and I love my unlimited. I would own the rubicon if it was larger. a wife and three dogs.  I think if I say to my wife I want the unlimited rubicon that is coming she will toss me out!!!

What model jeep do you have.  Is it a CJ?  Wide track or narrow track?
