I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2wd.  I also have a wrecked 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4wd.  Trans, transfer case, front axle and the V8 are good.  Is it possible to convert my 2w to 4wd using the components from my wrecked 4wd Jeep.  Would it be a direct bolt up replacement?

I assume they both have the same engine? If so, the swap should not be very difficult, as long as the wrecked one has no damage to the drivetrain, and the vehicle is not missing any parts.

Thanks.. Wrecked one is ok in drivetrain area.  Just wondering what the differences where in the frontends.

there is no difference.

the 2wd has pretty much the same front axle without the diferential and shafts.

you might also need the v8 radiator, but I'm not 100% on that.

the rear axle is stong enoug on the 2wd, but the gears are probably differnt, and I'm not sure if the driveshaft will bolt up to it.
