If it is not obvious to you what the problem is with swapping in ford parts into a Jeep then maybe you are to retarded to read this. But just incase you are not sitting in puddle of your own drool staring at something shiny, I'll explain. The purpose of swapping your Jeep drive train with that of non-Jeep parts is to achieve GREATER dependability, cheaper repair costs, more power, better availabilty of parts, wider seletion of after market parts, ect. Hence the popularity of the small block chevy swap. As soon as you step into the realm of ford, you lose all of these reasons plus some (style, and good taste for instance). It is common knowledge that only people with more money than brains swap ford parts into anything. Or maybe they like the endless tinkering and drives to the local parts store to argue with the other morons that work there if the part is for a 351M or a 352FE. Avoid the whole mess and dump the truck, save only the Dana 60 (I assume). The NP205 is way too massive, the trasmission if it is manual, is worth more than the truck as a whole, and any motor ford makes is not worth its weight in crap.

I personally think it's sad to scrap out a late '70s 250, especially if it's a high boy, and though I havent done such a swap I'd suggest something other than the 302. a 300 I-6 is a far better way to go but it may not fit.. the 358 barely fits in a CJ. The 60 rear is probably a floater so that's a huge plus, but the front is most likely a 44 so you are about evened out there.. course they'd have to be narrowed to keep the Jeep in narrow trails. My '76 250 high boy has the divorced case.. now I wouldnt probably have big issues in my '81 Scramber if I was for some crazy reason thinking of scrapping my 250 thinking of swapping the 4 speed and case in it, but a 7 or a 5 would have serious driveline angle issues.. just my opinion though.

I think your being a little rough on the guy. Swapping anything from a F250 is going more work than it's worth, but... I put a ford explorer 8.8 rear end in my YJ and it works great and was a near perfect fit and it's known by the Jeep community as one of the better swaps if you don't need anything as heavy as a Dana 44 or 60. I would also perfer a chevy v-6 or v-8 over a Ford but thats my opinion, not based on fact. I do agree, either sell your truck or part it out to other Ford truck guys. Stick mainly with Jeep or Chevy parts.
