Alright, here's the deal. I have a 79 CJ 7, 258 I6, 31" Mud Terrains. It is basically bone stock but I am working out a plan for its build up. Right now i have a set of 16/38.5/16.5 Super Swamper TSLs on my deck begging to be installed. I want to do an SOA, but i can't find enough info on the process as a whole. I would really like to combine the leaf packs from a 4" lift, along w/ shackles, and possibly a body lift. I also plan to swap out the axles as well. I would like to use Dana 60's either front and rear, or in combination w/ a corporate 14 bolt. When i can install these, i would see no reason not to extend the wheel base a bit as well. The other main mod i want to do is, rather than swap in a chevy small/big block like everyone else, i want to swap in a Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel engine. I'm not past looking for a tranny and t-case swap either... I mean why skip those? My main questions are,

1. What vehicles should i be looking for in a junk/scrapyard for the axles?

2. As of now i dont know much a/b diesel engines, so what year and model truck should i keep an eye out for?

3. What major problems might i run into w/ any of these swaps?

4. What would be a logical 5sp. tranny and a good all around tcase?

5. Does anyone know where i could find some on/offline info a/b any of this?

BTW, this will be a daily driver.

is your wish list for real? that is a ton of work. your best bet would be to get a 1 ton pickup that has everything you're looking for and swap it in. what do you plan on using the jeep for?
