I have a 1997 jeep tj and I want to put a 4 to 6 inch lift on it.  What is a good lift for a reasonable amount of money.

If you're looking for a long arm kit check out the May '03 issue. We tested several kits in that issue.

I would suggest the Tera-Flex 6" long arm kit. A friend of mine installed it on his Rubicon and it is awsome!!!!!!!!

Hey E,

I think that you first need to decide what height that you want first. The reason I say that is cuz at about 4 1/2" is the max you can lift a TJ without introducing more parts in the kit. Basically I mean that you lose the max stock ride you can have. So naturally the price will go up along with the difficulty of installation. As the other dude said, the Tera-flex 6" long arm is a great lift and reasonably priced. I just got the 4 1/2" Tera-flex for my TJ and it is a great lift and I have retained my "stock" ride.  I have noticed that if you have the "wrong" lift, that is a cheap one without all the necessary parts to keep it from swaying on the road, you will not be happy with it as an everyday driver. Offroad it may do just fine articulating and absorbing ruts and rocks, but when you get it on the road and do a lane change, you will notice that it doesnt feel all that safe. You have to spend the money for the right lift. Right around a $1000 for the initial lift up to 4-4 1/2" and then about that a jump of $500 because of the additional parts to provide a good ride. Just beware of the cheap lifts that offer 6"or so for $1000 or less. Recommendations:

Fabtech 6" longarm

Teraflex 4" and Teraflex 6" longarm

Rubicon Express Superflex 4.5"
