Just add water and wait a few years apparently and you to can brand new removable doors for you xj........On a serious note...Funny story I stopped at a gas station and for a b-day gift from my lovely jeep the drivers side door fell off. Not came unbolted, not sagged from age, but feel off. Apparently it rotted the welds out on the bracket. So now I struggling with trying to figure out a way to fix the damn thing or just selling it off and saying screw it because I don't have the money or means to fix it the way it should be fixed (or to do a cheap temp fix also). Either way though you guys would gt a kick out of it

I say make some tube doors or just add some mirrors to the body of your Jeep to keep it legal. At least in Washington here, i think ya can get away with out doors as long as you have a drivers side mirror and a center window mirror at least. or ya can always find another door at a salvage yard and call it good...

well that sucks...and yea might wanna keep doors on it for his sake. I would say best, cheap (but not legal) way is to find another XJ, wait till the owner leaves it, pop the lock and then take their door...It would give ya a free door and if ya are feeling generous, you can give them your door. Not really a legal option, but some thing to think about...Or ya can always talk to a body shop and see if they have some doors for ya. or maybe a junk yard...Just look around for now and see what you can find. I know its hard to do on little funds...But if ya need to, you can rig a tarp for the lower part of the door, and lucky its spring time so its a bit warmer. And good luck on getting it fixed.

i don't know if you own a welder or not, or maybe a buddy of yours owns one, infact i am taking a shot in the dark her because i don't even know how fargone and rusted the door is but here's one thing you can do..specially if you don't care about appearence
get some plates and weld it to the body and rig up a small hinge in the same way wrangler doors are hooked up, to do it right it's take sometime, the alignment may be off, but i would think thats the cheapest fix, if you can get a free welder
otherwise do what 93Grandzj said and just find a matching door on someone elses XJ, haha but i wouldn't use that as you first choice

as far as the pulling the door off another xj it wouldn't do me any good. The door is actually in good shape (cept for the giant dent from a little oak tree) the welds on the hinge are what rusted out and there would be alot of cutting into the frame and a pillar not to mention there is a hole for some unknow thing in part of the door frame where I would have to cut.

well then if the welds are what rusted, just go to like Home Depot and buy some door hinges and screw them to the out side of the door and the fender, do like 3 of them. that might have been what Flower was getting at, but im not sure. Either way, it sucks that the rust over came the jeep. Maybe you can find another XJ that has a good body but a bad running gear and you can transfer all of yours to that one...If ya can find a donor one that is for cheap/free... Is this your daily driver or a second back up car? and if ya can post a pic to show us what the damage area looks like, it might help come up with some better ideas, cuz like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

also depends if the front fender can handle the weight of the door when its open, which it might, and yea it will look UGLY...but its about the only real option that is availible probably...

well its the second cheapest way. Cheapest way is to go doorless and just mount a small mirror to the body. But that dont seem to be a option.

that would work if the door opened straight like a cj or wrangler but actually look at your door when you open it on a xj for example the door actually slips in behind the fender so the hinge wouldn't give to allow for the slip so the door would only open a few inches.

If you have enough rust that your door fell off, I would be concerned that you Jeep is not safe to operate. How much rust do you have in other areas?
