My 2001 tj leaks water from under the dash and on to the floor when it rains out. I siliconed the fresh air intake but still get water on the drivers side floor. Need help! Thanks FFW

Every tj i have been around has done that design flaws i think could be the antenna or condensate hose for the a/c or fresh air duct

How's this for a theory? You run your AC while its raining because you don't want to get soaked with the windows open. The higher humidity, combined with the cold air, over-powers the dryer (whether it is clogged or just underdesigned) and condenses. It then travels down the air ducts to the lowest point in the system which are the ducts for the floor. I have had this problem and it usually doesn't yield more than a table spoon full of water. It also can happen on extremely humid days even when it's not raining. Where I live the humidity reaches 75 to 80 percent, even without raining, most days during the summer. There can only be SO MANY possibilities. Unless your floorboards become truly soaked I wouldn't worry about it much. If that is the case though...are your drain plugs installed?

something to remember if you have AC it is on in the defrost mode all the time and you can not change that. so I would lean toward a condensation drain problem. good luck....

Hey FFW. I had the same problem with my `89 Samaurai.  I`m not a mechanic and the jeep has a lot more crap around the dash but I figured out what it was one day after it had poured and I had to bail the water before a three hour drive.

The water came from the little vent infront of the windshield.  Cars (my suzuki) had two little plastic hoses for this water to drain onto the ground infront of the firewall.  However these two little hoses passed through the fire wall behind the dash before going back out in front of the firewall and draining.  The hoses were also disconnectable on the occupant side of the fire wall.  The little hose had become disconnected on the driver side.  I almost broke my back but I eventually saw how this system was supposed to work.  The water only came in when it rained or I washed my car.  Thats why I didn`t buy into the whole humidity thing.  I`ve got a 2003 TJ and if this ever happens to me again,  I know the first thing I look for will be that little vent infront of the windshield, and two little plastic hoses.

Check the windshield seal.  If you drive your jeep daily you'll know what a rock magnet they are.  If you have replaced the windshield, I'm on number 6 myself, check and see if its sealed up tight.  If it isn't the water will leak in at the seams, run down the firewall behind the dash and sit in the floor.
