Hey,

I just bought a 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ I was wondering what I can do to beef up the performance level of my jeep....... lookin at the horsepower department. I have already got a 4 inch lift from trailmaster on the way. I am just lookin for a few suggestions on what else i can do.

I have a '97 with a '99 4.0.

Is it ok to assume you have a 4.0?

I have put a free flow cat and muffler on for less than $500 canadian.  ('cause I broke both)

I put a K&N cone filter on for about $75 canadian.

I run 31" tires with 307 gears (or 308 ... not sure).

I have a 5 spd manual.

I am very happy with the performance, and definately noticed the increase with the upgrades.

You can do all you want to the engine, but I think it all comes down to diff/tranny/tcase gearing and tire size.  The engine tweaks will help, but can only do so much.

Pete

I just cut my intake tube and stuck a k&n cone on it.  Much cheaper than the fipk, but does put the filter in a different spot (more exposed).

What jeep are you going to put it on?
