I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ Sport hard top.
I bought a 4 inch Skyjacker suspention lift with nitro shocks. The nearest instaler is telling me I need a 3 inch body lift for my 33 X 12.50 X 15 BFG ATA/T tires or they are going to rub.
Reading on 4wheelparts.com they are saying that wont sell you a body lift if putting it on a jeep with a suspention lift. I understant I can if I want to but knowing that this is what they sell they should know whats right.
We are hearing TOO many different ways to do this.........suspention lift with the tires, or suspention lift and body life with tires.
We also have looked on godmudders.com and all the jeeps on there web site of others have both lifts.
If anyone has been in the same boat as me, please help!! I need my new tires on my jeep bad and cant do it till I know if I need to buy the body lift or not.
Thank you!! ![]()

i think the installer is BS ing you. i know a guy that runs 35's on his 98 tj with a 4" skyjacker. i don't own a tj but i know 7" of lift on a cj can fit 37's. some tj's came stock with 31's. going to 33's gives you 1" more ground clearance and 1" less sheet metal to tire clearance. 4" of suspension lift should be plenty. as far as 4 wheel parts goes, if they won't sell you the parts you want, tell them you're a competition rockcrawler, sanddragger, mudbogger, or whatever and say you're going to put a big "4 wheel parts wholesalers sucks" sticker on your jeep for your next competition. they'll sell you the stuff you want. if your tires did rub with a 4", they would have to be totally flexed out on a rock trail or something. you can get bumpstops to keep your tires out of the sheetmetal if you need it. i would be pissed if a 4x shop wouldn't sell me a 4" suspension and 3" body lift at the same time. i'm actually pissed off right now and it's not even my problem. i'm 1/2 tempted to call those bastards and order the body and suspension lift to see if they will sell it to me. the 4" suspension will work, find a new installer. post your city and i'm sure someone on this 'board can direct you to a competent shop.

At this time I am running a cheep 2" puck lift with 33x12.50x15 wild country rvt. I run the trails and rocks with the front sway bar diconected. Very little rubbing. I think 7" is quite high if you are only running 33's
