I have the chance to buy an 84 CJ without a motor. the tranny is still there along with an amc 20 rear and dana 30 front. it doesnt have a top but the body is in good shape. the floor pans are the only real bad rust. its got a set of 3 or 4 inch leaf packs extra too its going for 250.00. should i bite????

sure it would be a great "Project".road driving jeep . the axles are not up to par for offroad but if you can fix it up and watch you spending you can turn around and sell it for a couple grand.

I'd jump on it, you just don't find that kind of deal very often. And even that AMC 20 rear can be helped a little.

It all depends on what you want. If you're going to be doing a little light off-roading with it, and not relying on it as a daily driver, you could probably fix it up well enough for under $1000. But I wouldn't expect to sell it for much, or abuse it too severely.

I've got an 84 cj-7 with a 4 inch lift 3 inch shackles and a 2 inch body. I constantly abuse this set up off road and have currently had no prob with axles or any thing else other than my run in with a rock kissing the stock tie rod and drag link. Had to replace with monster tie rod and drag link. Tires dont rub the springs and even have room for 37 incher's if I wanted. Oh ya I do have one peice axles in the stock 20.
