Okay, bought an '04 Rubicon. The JP/Quadratec Stage 1 Jeep says a 2" lift to fit 31" tires.
I have 31" tires stock. No kit I have seen says anything about a lift for a Rubicon or what the lift will do for a Rubicon.
I know enough to get into trouble, but I know I'm missing something. Any info would be appreciated.

Your not missing anything. A stock X or Sport can run 31's. Sometimes you have to adjust the steering (?). I suspect that DC has made the necessary adjustments for the Rubicon. I think a 2" lift would offer more wheel articulation when offroading but for street driving it's not necessary.
My 2k Sport has 31's and nothing rubs. Just lucky I guess.

My '91 YJ has 31" tires and only rubs the fender flares on hard compressions, but they do stick out about 2 inches. Will install 1 1/4" extended shackles, and possibly cutout fender flares in the future.
Just seems something is different on the Rubicon, like it might have a slight body lift. Just didn't want to order a lift kit for an '04 Wrangler and find out my suspension was different, like what Chevy did in the late 90's os the S-10 4wd's and the S-10 Baja's which had a different set-up.

With 2 to 21/2 inches of lift you can clear 32s. Yes 31s fit stock but with a small lift it just looks cleaner and may perform a little better off-road.

Just wanted to know if it is safe to assume that to clear 33" tires I'd need a 4" lift, or what would I need to go all the way to clear those 36" IROK tires?
Just wanted to know WHAT on the Rubicon allowed it to clear 31"s and the others only 30's. Suspension has to be different with beefier axles and a different t-case. 04Rubicon

I've got an 04 Rubi with 33's on it. they do just fine. it only rubs slightly when you cut the wheel hard. I just orderd the Rubicon Express 5.5 inch lift with some 35 Baja Claws. 2 weeks seems like 2 years!

31s fit on all stock TJs. There is no real stock lift on the Rubicon. It simply has coils with a different spring rate. It's a slightly heavier Jeep than the standard TJ.

Okay, different spring rate on the Rubicon. From what Jp has said, definitly go with a long arm suspension.
Any ideas when, I believe Rough COuntry, is going to come out with your Perfect TJ lift Kit?
I'd be willing to let them put it on mine for a tryout. 04Rubicon

Go with the r/e 5.5 long arm it's awsome on road and off,I drive alot of different jeeps short arms long arms and the r/e long arms ride alot better, remember build your jeep right the first time you don't want to spend your money twice.Just my two cents

Hey, your shop by chance isnt in SW florida is it?? Im gonna need some one to put this thing on when i get it. I dont have time nor the place to install something like this.
I have been doing a lot of research on lifts to put on this thing. I've have read reviews after reviews on lifts and have came to the conclulsion that the R.E. although more expensive then most is the only way to go. like overkill said, the R.E. has a much better ride then most but most importantly it was specificly deisgned for jeeps and the quality is allll there.
also if your gonna put a lift on it you will regret putting anything under 4.5 inches on the jeep. go with the 4.5 to 5.5 long arm for sure.

Sorry were in Campbell,Ca wish we were in Florida, California sucks. I can e-mail you are website if you like I don't know the rules on the board or I would just give it to you here, but I don't want to get in trouble with J.P., On there you can see 5.5 r.e lifts. But if you call R/E and tell them where you are located they will tell you the shop they recommend. Good Luck and your going to love it when it's done
