Anybody know what this is? Its vaguely jeep-ish (I've heard there's a few with horizontal grille slats), but it has 4 wheel independant suspension, which actually looked pretty strong. I spotted it in Spain. Just curious...

This is the replacement for the M-36 in the Marine Corps in approximately 1964. It is been so long that I have forgot the nomenclature of this vehicle. None made it into civilian service because they were notorious killers of their passengers. They had a swing axel rear end like a covair that would decamber in a turn and suddenly flip over killing and maiming all.

I seem to remember Brigade Quartermaster, or US Cavalry selling them through their catalog several years back. I think it was a unibody or spaceframe design, and they used surplus parts on the new-manufactured "frame". I'll have to look to see if that catalog is still in the archives.

I drove those vehicles we never called jeeps all over camp pendleton and later all over west texas on reservr drills. They rode good and were a little faster than the M-36, around 57 MPH
