definately.  i am going with those.  PIAAs are great but too damn expensive.  as far as hellas go i don't know much.  but the KC Daylighters are the best bang for your buck.  the slimlites are cool too, but theyre a bit more pricey.

Think about what you are doing with your lights first!
are you high speed desert racing, or crawling around in the woods at night?

I was briefly involved with a Ford project to make a wrangler competitor, now long cancelled.

the Ford people set up one wrangler with 4 KCs, thier race team said they were the best. I put 2 oe wrangler foglamps on a lightbar for the wrangler my former company set up. absolutly everybody prefered the 2 crappy foglights because they showed everything around that was reasonable close. The lights iluminated about a 220 degree or more arc (yes they actualy light up areas behind the lights). The KCs put out a narrow beam that showed a spot very well that you might get to in a few minutes.

I later put on 2 KCs also, my boss though the 2 lights looked too much like Michey Mouse ears.

good point, but with my plans for my Jeep its a little different.  the front bullbar will have two similar foglights and the top three or four will be KCs all point in the right direction. i have rear facing foglamps so i will probably get two rear facing KCs.  my buddy has them on his 86 Suburban, he has em in front of the grille and he never had a problem with the lighting.  i think for my use though, the driving lights are the best....

OOjeeptj, what about u?

I think fog lights are more useful. driving lights are made to help the highbeams. the highbeams on a TJ don't need help.

i just put the silverstats in all 4 of my tj's lights.moved the fogs out and up,and they light the sky.they are bright white and street legal,i get brighted somtimes but its fun to really hit the brights and see them cover their eyes.but for aux lights,if all u want them for is off-roading,around here we run farm implament lights that tractors run.bright as hell and durable and a cost of 15 dollars a light.i had a set of hellas on my last jeep and when it got hit by a limb,i got pi$$ed.with the cheap lights and the same coverage,i dont care how many i break.apc also has off-road lights that look like K C lights and are 25 a piece.but u will need a good battery if u want maximum watts.a yellow top is a good choice ,red top is good as well.i run cheap lights so i have money for mods that really benefit me.

i agree with Groo, definately the fogs.  the driving ones you can put on the side or on the top of the car

i got mine at a farm king.there is other farm and country, farm and fleet, implament stores u can try.stores that sell farm stuff is your best bet,but they have round ones and rectangular ones and they are all about the same price.for the price u cant beat them, and if u ever seen a tractor way out in the fields, they seem pretty bright.they are good for slow wheeling at night and aux back-up lights.

Adding stuff to jeeps just for looks is a waste of money.

I've got KC long range, and they do light the road ahead, but not so good close up as mentioned further up, and aren't much use on turning tracks. A combo of long range and drivers works best. BTW, if lights keep breaking - usually the filaments on bada$$ bumps -  turn 'em on. Contrary to natural thought, light filaments are more resistant to breakage when burning. If they are breaking cos of branches, well, protect them! Yes, you can replace them when you get back, but that could be a lot of dark miles away.

Those tractor working lights are great for slow work, and for reversing. Lotsa light.

If you want the fogs to be fogs, don't put them high. Most fog peters out about 15 -18" above the ground, so companies like Hella make their fog lights with a very flat top illumination pattern. The idea is to mount them low, and shine the light under the fog and along the road. Works great - I've had them before. It can also make sense to put the long range as high as possible, but the drivers at the front. The pattern of the long range goes past the hood, not scattering off it back into your eyes and actually reducing visibility; the drivers will tend to do this, so put them at the front to avoid the problem.

Hey man, I agree, the 1st thing I did was replace the factory lamps on my rubi, with real fog lamps,  driving lamps are made to assist the LOW beams, not the high beams, it is the law in most states! The biggest problem I have with the white driving lamps, is that people don't keep them aimed low as they were meant to light up the road, and ditches, not the woods or sky! later

dude, I hope you never meet me with your high beams in my face, or I will make a very abrupt "U" turn, hunt you down, and run you and your piece of crap off the road and into the woods, oh sorry, all you hicks out there in iowa have is corn, no wonder you make such stupid remarks about the use of your brite lites, maybe to make up for the dim mind.
