I have to admit. Editor Cappa's defense of the magazine is brilliant. No, I'm not being a suck up. I'm a 50 year old Vietnam Veteran, who shoots from the hip. I don't have time, for time wasters ! Yes, it is an escape when my issue comes. Yes, I always learn at least one useable thing for my '97 TJ. Yes, other jeep models are interesting, too. Yes, Bree is easy to look at. These are all good things, if your a true jeep enthusiast. That's why they put the magazine out there. FOR the jeep enthusiast. If I see one more "city jeep" commercial for the Commander on tv...I may puke ! The main point I think Mr. Cappa was making, is that it's okay to laugh...at everything. Including yourself. The age group kinda differs in this sport, so the generations of jeep lovers will go on. Point being, that college humor has a place in this magazine, as does veterans humor about an M151, and what they were like on two wheels, about to roll over at high speed. Give credit where it's due. An excellent explanation of his magazine's direction. His best editorial colulm yet. Cory Kilvert

Well I've never said they had to make a mag "just for me" I just gave my opinon. I have NEVER said it should be just this way or just that. I have no idea where you got that from.

you post started with "I want" as if your "wants" alone should influence the content its not what u say its how u say it think this one over if there were enough people who agreed with your simple thoughts and simple "wants" then the subscription rates would drop Cappas boss wouldnt get as fat of a bonus heads would roll and the content would change money makes the world go around remember that not love not wants, needs or cares just MONEY

This is the LAST time I'm going to post to this because you seem to have somthing against me for god only knows why.
Aparently you seem to think YOU are the be all end all athority on everything and that I'm not allowed to have an opinion unless it matches yours. Well I'm sorry but there are ppl dieing right now to defend my right to have a different opinion.
...and to say my "simple thinking" is just plain rude. Grow up.
I'm done with this post. I won't be checking back.

Looks like I started something here ! I'm guessing zj owns a Grandie Cherokee. As Rodney King said, "Can't we all just be friends ?". Remember the humor...give me humor. The editor says to laugh at yourself, so start laughing. Hey, it's real easy. Either enjoy the mag, or don't buy it.

I couldn't agree with you more.
It seems that in this day of political brain washing or better coined, liberal censorship (political correctness) people are becoming very hyper-sensitive.
Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion and has the right to criticize others for what they believe too. The only thing I would like to point out is that when casting stones, be prepared to catch a few stones that may be headed your way and understand that if you get criticisms of any kind, they are probably not intended to be invitations to a fight.
We simply need to be thankful we all have the right to be who we are and that we live in a democratic republic where we can go off-roading when we want, with whom we want to go with, and in whatever type of ride we want to do it. So, laugh it up ya'll.

I wasn't going to write back here but I wanted to make this comment.
I am finding that for some reason this discussion board is getting harder all the time to make a post without a rude or smart ass comment in return. I'm all for an open discussion and someone telling me why they donot agree with me,which is fine. It's the way ppl here seem to put others down because they drive something different or think differently. I am wondering if it's got something to do with the age of ppl or not. Anyone else notice this?

I'm new to the board, but from some of the threads I have read thus far, I tend to agree with you. It has been my experience in other forums that generational differences do seem to have an affect on how folks interact with each other.
As for Cappa and the rest of the JP crew, I like their articles and individual writing styles. Reading their prose is kind of like hanging around your best friends’ garage talking shop. Even the occasional picture of a cutie reminds me of posters hanging on the wall in the shop. However, there articles contain a technical expertise not many of us can't find at our friends house, but that's probably why we buy their magazine, isn't it? (Thought to self - duh?)
Cheers!

Welcome aboard...and well put. The bottom line is we all like jeeps alot, like to go wheelin' alot, and want to learn more about our jeeps, no matter what type of jeep it is we own. No offense to 96zj. Hey, if you like jeeps, you're my friend. I apologize if I offended anyone.

i agree, there is no reason to start a dispute over models of jeeps.they are all one in the same.they are there to escape from daily lift into the backwoods and relax with others who share the same hobby.it dont matter if it says zj,wj,kj,lj,tj,yj,cj...etc, it has a stamp on it that we all share...jeep.if nothing else we should all band togeather to keep the spirit of jeep alive, and the land we use to wheel on which is going away.im only 24,i have owned 7 jeep products in my life, and wont buy anything else with out a jeep as a sidekick.i have wheeled with all age ranges and it is great,we all share a common bond.the only bad thing i have to say is the i wonder what they were thanking the day they decided to mass produce the commander?it is the worst jeep 4x4 i have drove, rode in,or even looked at.out of all the jeep vehicles in my opinion that is the one that is worthless, uncapable, poor excuse for a jeep.looks like a H2 on crack.but thats my 2 cents, others may feel differnt, but we are all jeepaholics, and there is never a mod to far.

Whoa there! The KJ, WK, and XK (Commander) are Jeeps built for the masses. They are not enthusiast Jeeps. But on a side note the Commander and Grand with the Quadra-Drive II are way more capable than a Liberty. It's just the worst Jeep ever!...Ummm, am I not playing nice again?

I totally agree.
I don't know much about the new Commander, but outwardly it reminds me of the old Wagoneers. It can't possibly be worse than the Liberty, and the prototype Compas.
I felt the editorial this month hit the the nail on the head. The mag isn't for the masses.. it's for a certain type of person, or group- age isn't part of the criteria. As is any magazine, it is meant for a certain cliche. If all you do is *** about the way they do things, then you aren't in that group.
Just like the vehicles.. Some may say 'Jeep' on them, but it doesn't mean it's a jeep. Hell, I've seen mountain bikes that say 'Jeep' on them... Don't make them Jeeps. and just cause you own a vehicle that wears the name, don't mean it's a 'Jeep', and thus it doesn't mean you are a Jeeper.
just my 2 cents
Don't sweat the small stuff- it's snowing outside! That means it's almost time to go drift bustin!
