Last time I checked with JP it seemed like you guys were poised to HATE the new JK. Now it seems the mood has calmed.
I test drove the JK and it had plus's and minus's. Four doors and storage for gear on the trail is a big plus.
It is the new Wrangler and the one we are stuck with - good, bad, or other. At least it isn't a KJ or Compass.
I won't be a snob until something appears about it that needs to be hasseled about it. (Needs-More-Power!, Plastic fenders I can deal with - PLASTIC GRILL?! What's up with that?)
I am waiting and seeing - waiting on a V8 someday... maybe. Can't trade out my TJ for it and probably won't even if the JK tempts me later on with some new tricks.
Just wondering why the tone changed drastically. Did something about it surprise you that I missed out on?
Keep up the good work.

Yeah, I was kinda pissed at first. Kinda like when they killed the straight axle on the Grand. But when I drove it it was more capeable than the previous model...how could I be mad? Stock to stock it's a better Jeep than the TJ. The JK will, however, have problems to overcome when lifting it. The ESP may freak out and rumor is that there will be many recalls due to the ultra-short design, production, and launch time. Even right now there is supposedly something wrong wih the Rubicon swaybars...

It looks and feels good. It is still wait and see what mechanical quirks are going to pop up the first couple of years. It is a new vehicle.
I think they should have set their goals to beat the FJ in performance. If the FJ can get 230 some hp then we should have seen numbers within 10 points either side of it. I'll keep chanting Hemi until they listen.
I will get one in the future but my TJ is going nowhere. My TJ will always be a work in progress and rolling with me.
Thanks for the reply - I was expecting to get blasted for my flame attracting post. You seem to get the same things I got from my test drive.

I think the JK should be bigger, still a four door but with a long bed in back and independent suspension, but change the grill to look like a CJ-3B..........in the mean time I will stick with my car-like TJ

I really like the 2 door "traditional looking" JK....but can't stand the 4 door model. I just do not like the look of the body with the 4 doors, and it looks stupid with the doors off-like it just drove out of a chop shop or something.

i've seen a couple of them running around here, in my neck of the woods. i did the wave thing and got blank stares......they obviously don't understand the Jeep thing. someone at my wifes work has a 4 door one, i looked it over....looks pretty roomy. don't think i'd ever own one though. beleive it or not, i never test drove the TJ, so i have no idea what that ifs feels like.
I work to support my Jeep

i have had my Rubicon Unlimited for more than a year, now. I am VERY satisfied with my choice. I am not fortunate enough to be able to afford many of the mods that others have heaped onto their rigs. The JK is nothing more than a slightly larger version of the TJ when it comes to the trails.
The longer I own it, the more I have come to love the design. Yea.. the plastic trim is a pain... ever have the door bounce back on your knee while getting in? I have had skin taken off by the rough platic.
little nit-picing asside, we have taken the Rubi on a road trip from South GA to NYC. It performed very well and was very comfortable for my family. No different than any other vehicle... some people like a design, some dont.
as for the Jeep Wave. I gave up on it a LONG time ago. true offroaders are slim around here. Most have no clue.
