I have just signed up , and luv the magazine , that said ,I have an 05 jeep unlimited rubicon .The other day 2 other  unlimited's both o5's  neither were rubicons both claimed to have the front dana 44's , i eye balled them and they did look similar , and it has me questioning  did the regular unlimited come w/ the dana 44 front ?I thought ony the rubicons  came w/ the dana 44 front and rear ? And how can you tell if it is a 44 front from a simple visual ? i heard it was stop sign like shaped vs the regular oval ?The one guy i met who parked side by side next to my rubi Unlimited  said his unlimited was almost the sames as mine except he did not have the lockers .Instead of arguing w/ this guy i just said oooh thats  nice though i know the unlimited rubicon came w/ some trim additions and a locker , 16" wheels , the dana 44 ft and rear ,and the transfer case is also not the same .Maybe a side by side comparison could be done in print to educate .thanks for your responce i advance .  

i know that the unlimiteds have  a Heavy duty Dana 44 rear axle. they also have a Dana 30 front axle. they dont have a dana 44 front.  

To az rub, the unlimited comes with the 4.Ol and a 44 rear and the 30 front. The drivetrain is idenitical to the rubicon short wheelbase except for the longer driveshaft and still has  the 242 transfer case. You can notice the 44 by it's more sharper angle at the bottom compared to a more common round Dana 35 or 8.8 chrsler which looks more like a ford 8.8 with harder angles.

He has a dana 30 in the front. You were smart to buy the Rubicon, the package is worth every dime. Don't take any smack from unlimited owners they are weak compared to the rubi.
