Hey, i have a question. I don't know a whole lot about engines. I have a 1968 mustang 302 engine, and i was wondering what would be a better power source, a paxton supercharger, or a smaller blower. Also this rig will also be driven on the road but not everyday. I will do mostly mud bogs and trial where i live. The engine is in a 1959 willys pickup that is restored and has a fiarly strong drivetrain behind it. I know that a bigger engine is probaly the best way to get power but i really don't fell like doing that. Thank you for reading my message and thanks for your help. |

Hi Jeeperztls,
I think superchargers are the way to go if you got the coin,however is the rest of the engine up to that kind of change? The bottom end needs to be relativley fresh for that .(rings&pistons etc.) otherwise bad things can happen.Keep in mind if you don't know the history of that engine then those parts could be 35 years old. Maybe you should start with a K&N filter,headers,dual exhaust and some Flowmaster mufflers.That would be good for about 25 horses and you wouldn't have to rob the kids piggy bank to do it.
By the way i have a 1950 Willys flattie p.u. as well,running a 350 with the same mods.i just mentioned plus a Holly carb.and a mild cam.With those mods.alone i've surprised all but one of the import car kids leaving the parking lot at work. .........Aerdown

Blowers and super chargers are the same thing the only difference is the look. The blower/supercharger for a fuel injection looks like a turbo but it is belt driven not exhaust driven. and a blower/supercharger for a carburated is kinda hard to explain how it looks but just go to jegs .com and look
