Whats is the difference, besides the obvious in 15, 16, 17, etc inch rims?

I see alot of tire manufacturers selling tires for 16 and 17 inch rims, is there any benefit to this when jeeping?

Basically whats all the hype about for larger rim sizes?

Pros / Cons, etc..

the best thing about smaller rims are, u get more flex out of your tires because there is more tire sidewall and stuff. the key to go by is get your tire size in inches and divide it by two and that nuber should be close to wat rim you should get. like 31 divided by 2 is 15.5 so get 15s. 40inch divded by 2 you can run 20 inch dubs.

It's mostly for load carrying capacity. Larger rims allow larger brakes as well. However, for Jeeps it's pretty silly to go larger than a 17-inch wheel unless you are running 44-inch-plus sized tires. Up to a 31 stick with 15s. 31-35 and 16s are fine. 35-up 17s work well. But that’s not to say you can’t run 15s on a 44-inch tire. It’s just wouldn’t handle all that well. Running a 17 with a 31-inch tire means you'll have less sidewall to help absorb off-road obstacles and shock. Shorter wheels with more tire sidewall makes for a better ride and more traction. Taller wheels and less tire sidewall makes for better handling, a rougher ride, and in most cases, less traction off-road. Everything in moderation.
