Seat alignment whining

Please help. I cannot figure out why the drivers seat and the steering column are out of alignment. I feel like a sucker newbie when everyone BS's me with some crappy story about it, but the best answer so far is "...it's a Jeep thing."

Ok, if that's it, I can certainly deal, but really, there is clearance for the seat to sit further outboard, so why is it like this? My 06 Rubicon seems about 2" off center. Does anyone sell spacer brackets to resolve some of this like those seat riser blocks?

Anyone want to help the newbie here? I'd appreciate it. (Well, I'd appreciate a good story, too.)

Do you have aftermarket seats?

It is a 2006 Rubicon, which I bought new 4 weeks ago. All steering colums on the various 6 or 7  '06 Wranglers on the lot had the same problem. I have never owned any car which had any (or at least detectable by me) mis-alignment of this type.

Now, with all the new Jeeps on the lot, it is obviusly the way they sell 'em this year, and with 26,000 aftermarket items available for so many items which are a lot less important, I am guessing that perhaps there is a solution here.... any ideas?

If not, I will make my own, and sell them in the aftermarket right alongside the seat 'riser' blocks!

Regarding aftermarket seats... the stock seats SUCK big time as far as I am concerned and I plan on getting new ones as soon as I can afford them. While the backrest is unusually comfortable, I find the lateral support in the base part an absolute joke. Of course, if I go to that trouble, I'll solve the alignment problem as well, with a drill bit.
