Okay this just started happening like a couple weeks ago. I start up my jeep (92 Wrangler 6cyl) in the morning and start driving. The problem comes in when i go to a stop sign or something that involves stopping or pushing in the clutch long enough for it to stall. The RPM's drop whenever i come to a stop sign and it shuts off unless i give it a little bit of gas until i go to take off again. its really weird. If it stalls, i start it back up and it will idle fine until i get to the next stop sign or whatever. anybody got any suggestions

Hi i am presently a amc/jeep/chrysler tech of 17 yrs in a dealer.Do you have access to a scanner or a code reader of any kind-to check for codes-sometimes you will have a code for stays cold too long witch is usually a thermostat, did you check the throttle body-if dirty will have cold driveway dieout-(technical term for stalling) and if you have meter to reads IAC steps -it will tell you if they are out of range -at idle -should be 18-36 steps.HOPE THIS HELLPS LET ME KNOW

is your throttle body dirty-if so get carb cleaner and a old tooth brush -open the throttle blade and clean it til no carbon left inside-will have rough idle when done til your snap the throttle a couple of times

I would check to see if the idle adjust screw has vibrated loose and caused a change if using the throttle can hold the idle at the proper rpm. Strange as it may sound turn the air conditioning on and see if that changes things ,if you have ac there is solinoid that idles up for the ac load also.

I had a similar problem with a Ranger. Turned out to be a dirty idle air control valve. I'm fairly certain all fuel injected engines have a similar set up, so replace or clean it out. Also, run some fuel injector cleaner in your next tank of gas. Slick50 makes a good product that I have used and had good results with. it's a bit picey at $8. Stay away from the $1.99 stuff as it does nothing.
