I have a 92yj with the 4.0.  The other day I was driving home from work an it just died on me.  Thinking my gass gage was broke it pushed it into a gas station and filled er up (great idea).  But it still wouldn't start.  I checked the 30amp fuse for the fuel pump and it was blown.  The only othe fuse i had was an 80amp fuse so i put it in (not the smartest idea) beings how i lived fairly close.  About 3 blocks down the road it blew the 80 amp fuse.  Could any one shed some light on whats going on here, i know that somthing is going aground somewhere but where?  Any one else have this problem?  Could i use an external fuel pump with my EFI?

First off, remove the wiring from the pump at the tank, put a new fuze in and see if you have power to the tank. then check all of the witing from the fuze block to the tank and make sure that you dont have a short, scraped or damaged wire. You can always run a new wire from the fuze block to the fuel pump. I have herd that if the pump is going bad or there is a short in the tank that you need to get a new fuel pump. Yes you can install an external pump but remember that it needs to deliver the right amount of fuel at the correct pressure and it needs to be mounted near the tank and you will need to remove the pump that is in the tank.
