I have an 89 wrangler that refuses to idle properly. The idle rpm is always changing. I've rebuilt the carbuerator, set the timing and tuned it up. The engine is not running smoothly and seems to have lost power.
Any suggestions?

what your dealing with is a carburator thats worn around the throttle plate shaft. At that year there are some half assed controles on the carb that cant deal with the air leak. I believe I've heard theres a place that sells a bushing kit to fix it, otherwise its a new carb. Lost power could be from carb settings, but it could also be virtualy anything else too. I had the same idle surge in my first street jeep. it had an automatic, and came close to jumping into the rear end of vehicles sitting in front of me a couple of times at lights and drivethroughs. Had a buddy with this problem. It was the carb, he went fuel injection. (Big *** but it runs good now.
